From its inception, The Salvation Army has relied heavily on volunteers who support its programs and are often referred to as “the army behind The Army”. Volunteers are individuals who reach out beyond the confines of paid employment to contribute time and service to a worthy cause in the belief that their service is beneficial to others and at the same time provides a sense of satisfaction for themselves.
Volunteers are as diverse as the communities they come from. A volunteer can be anyone who has time to donate. They may be people of any age who will agree to support the implementation of The Salvation Army mission
Volunteers are valuable assets in The Salvation Army’s efforts to meet the changing needs of our world. Through the skills and experience they bring to The Army, volunteers make significant contributions to society by positively impacting the lives of those they assist. Salvation Army volunteers change lives, uplift families and support communities throughout our country every day.
Without volunteers, many of our programs and outreach activities would not be able to exist. We rely on the dedicated support of individuals who have a heart for helping others. Many seasonal/short term opportunities exist, yet we are greatly in need of regular volunteers who are willing to make a long term commitment.
